Prof. Liqun Zhang

Professor Liqun Zhang is President of Xi’an Jiaotong University and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. He is a global leader in rubber science and technology, with research spanning sustainable and high-performance rubber materials, polymer nanocomposites, bio-based polymers, green elastomers and polymer processing. His work has achieved major industrial impact, including the development of the world’s first production line for bio-based itaconate elastomers and the first biodegradable polyester rubber. He holds more than 300 domestic and international patents, with over 30% transferred into industrial applications, demonstrating an exceptional record in research translation and commercialization.
